The Coppin Legacy:
Coppins Ltd was formed by
Ronald Douglas Coppin. A
young but keen stone mason
with an eye for perfection.
Originally based at the
arches in Bow, east london, Coppin's
became well known as the 'go
to' spot for all stonework's
required in central london.
Its clients soon learnt that
they could trust the Coppin
family to provide
top quality craftsmanship.
So much so that Ronald
Douglas was asked to
complete a hand carved
fireplace for The White
House. Which unfortunately
was lost at sea when the
ship delivering it sank.
In-fact, the Coppins
stonemasons became so
popular they were
often taken abroad by
clients to complete
particularly difficult
projects.
Past down to the next
generation, Ronald Terence
Coppin was keen to follow in
his fathers footsteps and
provide top quality work for
unbeatable prices. He was
well known for training his
stonemasons to the high
standards that his father
had set. If something wasn't
perfect it was remade from
scratch (and often deducted
from his masons pay packet)
He moved the factory to
bigger premises in
Stratford, East London. A
site that many of the stone
masons that still work at
Coppins remember getting
lost in.
Passed down to his
sons Ronald Charles Coppin &
Terence Ronald
Coppin in 1986 the company
became R.Coppins & Sons. It
was opened to the public so
that people could purchase
direct from the factory.
With brothers working side
by side, there father and
mother running the office.
Coppins really became a
family run business.
In 2000 with a family of his
own Ronald Charles decided
to move the factory once
again to Braintree in Essex
(its current location). A
strict but fair leader, all
of his stonemasons followed.
And so the company became
R.C.Coppin Ltd.
With his wife stepping in as
the Company Secretary and
himself still the current
director, he still trains
his staff with the skills
that his grandfather taught
him. His Son Charles Coppin
and daughter Roseanne
Coppin started with the
company in 2009 and are
currently learning the
secrets of the trade.

All Installation team members have been put through vigorous training and health and safety exams.
