Here you will find the
recommendations for the cleaning
and general upkeep of your
granite. All our stone surfaces
are sealed in our factory to
provide a protective coating
which reduces the porosity of
the natural surface.
Granite is a form of igneous
rock that can only be scratched
by materials that are stronger
than the granite itself, such
as:
-Diamonds
-Tungsten
-Sand
If you do find that you have
scratched the granite, never try
to remove the scratch yourself,
its a difficult procedure and
takes years to perfect.
Under normal use Granite should
not scratch or chip, it is safe
to slice and chop on the
worktops. However we recommend
using a cutting board to keep
from damaging your knives.
Never use abrasive cleaning
products such as metal pads,
sand paper and scouring
detergents on granite as these
can affect the finish and
protective coating over time.
Granite is not difficult to
clean, mild soap and water is
all that is generally required.
Work surfaces should be cleaned
using a neutral detergent rinsed
with clean water and buffed dry
using a soft clean cloth.
Alternatively you can purchase
granite care kits and cleaning
products from us.
All marble products from
R.C.Coppin are given a coat of a
sealant wax. Later, if the
lustre seems to be fading, it is
time for another coat. Products
designed for marble are now
available from us.
Waxing increases the lustre,
making cleaning easier and also
making the surface more
resistant to everyday scratches.
Our team can repair deeper
scratches, chips and nicks.
Please contact us in this case.
Never use abrasive cleaners to
clean your marble. The use of
abrasives may cause scratching,
discoloration, and dullness to
the surface. Do not clean the
surface with nail polish remover
or any other chemical containing
acetone.
Use a non-abrasive cleaner
such as Windolene, foaming
cleansers, or even a wet wash
cloth with soap on it, to remove
any soap build-up, toothpaste,
etc.
On products with honed
finishes, mild abrasives can be
used occasionally to mask any
minor wear and tear. Avoid using
polishes on these surfaces.
Shower floors can be cleaned
with any non abrasive cleaners:
spray and leave on for a few
minutes, then scrub with a
soft-bristled brush to remove
soap residue.
Hard water and mineral
deposits caused by water supply
in some areas may be removed
using cleaners sold for removing
iron, calcium, and other mineral
deposits. Follow the label
instructions. Do not leave these
products in contact with the
marble product for an extended
or prolonged period of time.
Regulate the temperature of
your hot water. Set the hot
water heater at less than 150
degrees. You should always mix
hot and cold water into your
sink bowls, bath tubs, and
shower pans. This will help
avoid crazing/cracking due to
hot and cold water thermal
shock.
Yours truly
